Our thoughts...

Underdeveloped ~ Convenient ~ Lacking

This book surprised me, and not in a good way. I know so many people who rated this four or five stars and I can’t go above two. I would have marked this baby DNF early on if it weren’t for the fact that I was buddy-reading with Liz from Read Catch Kiss. Needless to say, I will not be continuing the series. I apologize now for what is definitely my “rantiest” review to date. I have reasons for it (well, most of it) but in the end, this book just ticked me off.

Tackling the TBR update: Jenny's attempt at wearing the pants

We're entering our TBR (To Be Read) vaults in search of lost souls. Some books have been sitting in the catacombs so long we don't even remember putting them there (let alone one-clicking them). Join us as we rescue forgotten titles and finally attempt to make a dent in the never-ending beast known as the TBR list. We're looking to not only shorten our lists but also develop healthier reading habits. Want help tackling your TBR? Be a part of our support system and lighten your e-reader one book at a time.

Jenny's update:

Tackling the TBR: Liz's TBR Reveal

The time is here - the big reveal on how many books are on my TBR.  There were a lot of good guesses but congratulations to Michele Tucker - you were the closest guess to how many books are on my TBR list!!  The official number of how many books are on my TBR list is 558.

It has taken me a while to amass all these books, so I know it will take me a while to whittle down this list.  I have actually have read two books from my TBR list (down to 556 - woo hoo!), however the urge to buy more books is getting to me.  There are two books out by authors I like and I really want to continue the series.  I am trying to hold strong, but the Amazon gift card I got for Christmas is starting to burn a hole in my pocket.  I have spent the last couple of weeks talking about my TBR list, so next week we will check in with Jenny and see how she is doing tackling her TBR list.

Tackling the TBR: 1-Click Check-In

Phase One Update

One of us has been far more successful than the other. One of us has their…things together and the other one is stuck in some weird undiscovered circle of Dante’s Inferno. The latter is also a bit dramatic.

Tackling the TBR

The Journey Begins...

The greatest horror of owning an e-reader is the ability to amass an incredibly long queue of books to be read. I had to add extra shelves on Goodreads to tier my TBR based on how much I want to read a book. That has not done me much good.

Confession Time.....

I wanted to end this day with confessing something to our readers as well as talking about one of our features I am most excited about. Ok, confession time - I honestly don't know how many books are on my TBR list.  I was using the Goodreads feature to import my Amazon ebook purchases and at one point, my TBR list was in the 800's and I am still not done.  What is the cause of this supersized TBR list?  I can only blame it on my one-click addiction. If I continue on this path, my TBR list will outlive me. Someone in my family will then inherit my TBR list, and I am afraid they will not be able to handle it.

Welcome to the Review Loft!

The Review Loft was created by a group of women who love to read and have a strong desire to engage with the in-between that exist in the book world. This site won’t just be about reviewing books or pimping covers, but giving readers a more well rounded look into what is taking place in the book world. It is a platform for interactive conversations, video reviews, and other creative bookish activities, as well as a place where no book is too old or to young to be discussed.

Please take a look around, get comfortable, and come back often to see what books and which characters we are bringing to life each week.
