It was the beautiful cover that made me click on the book to see if the blurb fit the look. The Light of Day did not disappoint! There was something unique about the writing that pulled me to Jake and Cora as if they were my best friends. The writing wasn’t over flowery and it was thick with dialogue. It truly was a nice mixture of character development mixed with strong dialogue that kept me invested in the story of Jake and Cora.
The Light of Day is different and light. I think all readers will enjoy this sweet new adult book.
Jake and Cora are in different places in their life. Jake is trying to figure out the next step in his baseball career or maybe even the lack of one, while Cora is trying to hold on to her sobriety and learn her self-worth. The two of them meet during a time when they need each other. The story really starts to develop when they realize they can’t be together anymore for multiple reasons. I love how Kristen Kehoe developed Jake and Cora’s relationship, it was very organic and real. There was no drama just for drama.
My only issue with the story was, Cora. I found her to be a tad bit unlikable. She was whiney, confused, and indecisive A LOT. I get why she was all these things, those just aren't my favorite qualities in any human.
