I was very excited to get my hands on this book. How can you go wrong with an angsty, lonely girl who randomly experiences time stopping all around her and a blind hobo with time-freezing powers?! Add in a healthy dose of Greek mythology and you’ve got yourself a real winner! No, seriously.

Jenny's Audioslave Review: When Dimple Met Rishi by

Title: When Dimple Met Rishi
Author: Sandhya Menon
Genre: Contemporary NA Romance
Publisher: Simon Pulse

Pub Date: May 30, 2017
Story Rating: 3 Stars
Narration Rating: 3 Stars

Our thoughts...

This story is very sweet and cute and I LOVE the cover. I had some minor issues here and there but nothing worth complaining about. I enjoyed seeing things from Dimple and Rishi's perspectives and learning new things. I especially liked seeing how the characters and I are so different and yet still so similar (well, college-me). I wasn't wowed but I enjoyed myself and recommend picking it up.

Regarding the narration: the narrator for Dimple did a very nice job but the gentleman who narrated for Rishi was inconsistent and had the tenancy to add drama that made him sound like he was auditioning for the voice-over guy role in trailers for suspense movies. He was hit and miss and I honestly think it affected my impressions of the story negatively.

Jenny's Audio Slave Review: Bad Boy by Elliot Wake

Genre: New adult, suspense, LGBTQ
Publisher: Atria

Pub Date: December 6, 2016
Story Rating: 5 Stars

Bad Boy is a suspenseful, insightful, provocative read that I strongly recommend picking up. It is centered around a transgender guy named Ren who is a popular vlogger by day and the muscles of a vigilante group by night. Conflict arises in both facets of his life as well as demons from the past and present.

Jenny's Review: The Matchmaker's Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken

Title: The Matchmaker's Playbook
Author: Rachel Van Dyken

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Skyscape

Pub Date: April 5, 2016
Rating: 4 Stars

Our thoughts...

I was a little hesitant going into this story because of the abundance of books that sound a lot like the 90's film She’s All That. The good-looking, popular guy on campus sets out to makeover the frumpy girl: it’s been done before, right? Rachel Van Dyken takes that foundation and builds it up in an original, charismatic, and refreshing way.

So I started this little gem about teenagers being all angsty, dirty, backstabbing pricks who have millions of dollars at their disposal, I thought ok this will be Gossip Girl high, I can usually deal with teenagers once in a while so no big deal right?  Wrong.

Review: Love, Chloe by Alessandra Torre

Title: Love, Chloe
Author: Alessandra Torre

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Alessandra Torre

Pub Date: March 14, 2016
Rating: 3.75 Stars

Our thoughts...

Love, Chloe is the book version of a blog series Alessandra Torre recently wrote for Cosmopolitan magazine called The Bedroom Blog. Fans of the blog series will find familiarity in the novel and those new to Chloe Madison will most likely come to love her with ease. If you have not read the blog series, I recommend you don’t. I believe it is better to read one or the other unless you put a fair amount of time in between. I think the blog series was too fresh in my mind and, therefore, I was not as captivated by the story the second time around despite the story still being an enjoyable one.

Real ~ Fun ~ Gooey

I had no idea I was going to like this story as much as I did. I haven’t read a Jamie McGuire book in years.  A wonderful reading friend sent me a signed paperback of Beautiful Redemption and it’s sat on my shelf for months.  I’ve been in the mood to read a paperback, so I picked the book up, and I wasn’t able to put it down.

Review: The Light of Day by Kristen Kehoe

Run ~ Out ~ Love

It was the beautiful cover that made me click on the book to see if the blurb fit the look.  The Light of Day did not disappoint! There was something unique about the writing that pulled me to Jake and Cora as if they were my best friends.  The writing wasn’t over flowery and it was thick with dialogue. It truly was a nice mixture of character development mixed with strong dialogue that kept me invested in the story of Jake and Cora.

Surprising ~ Sassy ~ Change

The Girl I Was Before is book number three in the Falling Series by Ginger Scott, and it has a very different tone from the other two books.  This is Paige’s story and in books one & two I wasn’t a Paige fan. Now, I think I’m Paige’s BIGGEST fan! Her spunky attitude and bold confidence radiate off of every page in this book.  I love a strong female, and Paige is that girl to a T.

Enthralling ~ Romantic ~ Courageous

I was first introduced to K.A. Tucker and this series with book number 2, Becoming Rain, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Tucker’s storytelling has a unique feel to it. It isn’t out there, shocking, or crazy, but there is just something so ensnaring and enjoyable that keeps me coming back for more. I love how she blends and balances suspense with romance to deliver a story that captivates and delights.

***Do not read this review if you have not read the first two installments of the series***

**I also suggest you read this book in an environment that allows for little interruption. Excessive amounts of interruption may be harmful to those around you**

Talk about completing an arc. Everything I had been questioning, everything I needed resolved, is taken care of. It wasn’t handed to me in a neat package, however, so don’t think this is one of THOSE stories. The reader has to work for answers and closure. This isn’t an easy ride here, not at all.
