Our thoughts...

This is my first time reading Meghan March and I’m hooked. She gave me everything that I was looking for in a dark read. I devoured Ruthless King in a matter of hours. This is the first of three books. A one-click must in my opinion.

Terri's Review: Vicious by L.J. Shen

Title: Vicious
Series: Sinners of Saint #1

Author: L.J Shen
Genre:  Romance
Publisher: L.J Shen

Pub Date: December 27, 2016
Rating: 4 Stars

Our thoughts...

I believe that I am in the minority among my blogging friends. This wasn’t a 5 star read for me. I do enjoy a good love/hate book but I found Vicious to be overly mean and Emilia to be a pushover. That being said the book was a 4 star read.

Audio Slave Review: Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters

Title: Tears of Tess
Author: Pepper Winters
Genre: Dark Romance
Book Publisher: Pepper Winters

Audio Publisher: Punch Audio
Audio Pub Date: June 9, 2016
Story Rating: 4 Stars
Narration Rating: 2.75 Stars

Our thoughts...

It has taken me a long time to write this review because I have so many mixed feelings and they all have to do with the audio side of things. I have no real issues with the story. I thought I was going to have a lot, especially with how the story starts, but Winters managed to answer every question I was harboring. I was pleased and yet felt cheated out of my ranting. Mainly pleased (but pouty). The story is very dark and not for people with major triggers, but it is well-written and well-done. The relationship works, makes sense, for them and only them. Any other situation and I would be furious. They are a perfect storm. That’s all I’m going to say about the story because I enjoyed it but I had some major issues with the audio. It’s been several weeks and I’m still brooding a little, as ridiculous as that is.

Jane Childs was kidnapped in front of her home and held against her will for 10 years.  This is her story.  Her story of being lost and becoming found.  In this book you read about her struggle to come back into a life that she was taken from.  It was a happy life that she spent with an amazing boyfriend and a wonderful family but she is broken.  Can she recover and find that happiness again?  Can she fix all of the things that are broken?  You will have to read it to find out and you won’t be disappointed, this was a great story.

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I love Aleatha’s writing. Tony (Consequences Series) is one of my all time favorite characters. That being said, Nox is quickly taking over his spot!

Review: If You Dare by A.R. Torre

Title: If You Dare
Title: Deanna Madden #3
Author: A.R. Torre (aka Alessandra Torre)

Genre: Romantic Suspense/Thriller
Publisher: Redhook

Pub Date: November 10, 2015
Rating: 4 Stars

Our thoughts...

If You Dare is the third installment of the Deanna Madden series and it does not disappoint. One thing I like about this series, other than the characters and concept, is the fact that each book is unique in the way the story approaches Deanna’s life and the challenges she is facing. It isn’t the same story modified slightly over and over. Each book allows us to see a new facet of Deanna and some of the situations that arise when one is a presumed sociopath.

Release Day Blitz & Excerpt: Dirty Promises by Karina Halle

Blood. Sex. Revenge.
Being king comes at a brutal price.

Drug lord Javier Bernal has sliced and diced his way to the top of the Mexican drug trade, presiding over the country's largest cartel. But his rise to power comes at a brutal price: the death of his sister, Alana. Devastated and wracked with guilt, he turns away from his new wife, Luisa, forcing their marriage into a steady decline. But it isn't until she's pushed into the waiting arms of Esteban Mendoza, his right-hand man, that Javier realizes everything he's lost.
And it isn't until he learns the truth about Alana, that he realizes everything there is to gain.
Blood will spill.
Cities will burn.
Heads will roll.
Because Javier will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants.
And what he wants is raw, ruthless revenge.

Beautiful ~ Challenging ~ Defiant

I recommend checking your expectations before starting this, forget your preconceptions. You need to go into this with an open mind in order to avoid missing important details. You’ll miss the story’s blooming, so to speak and the next thing you know the petals are falling. This book is not for everyone. You need to know this going in. There are triggers here, big ones. If it’s dark and/or disturbing, it’s most likely here, folks. Just consider yourself warned. It’s also quite lovely at the same time.

Wild ~ Intense ~ Fascinating

Wow, what a ride! First things first, if you are squeamish, don’t like dark reads, or cannot tolerate violence you should probably avoid this book (although you’ll be missing out). Reading a book in The Deanna Madden Series is essentially like watching an episode of the TV show Dexter. If you can handle Dexter you can handle this. Reading the first book in the series isn’t necessarily essential but it will greatly help put things into proper perspective and intensify the importance of characters and situations.

This journey is one of a very dark depth so dark I almost couldn’t take it at times. I will warn you way ahead of time if you think you love dark books you have no idea what you are getting yourself into once you start.  ***Semi-Spoiler/Adult Content**** 18 or over only please.
