Must Read~ Judgment~ Second Chances

I’m not sure where to begin my review, I loved this book, I loved all the emotions that came along with reading it. This is one of my top 5 books of 2015. The Air He Breathes has it all, a spunky, sassy five year old, a crazy best friend, the asshole next-door neighbor and plenty of angst, love, tears, heartbreak, laughter, and more love!

Tristan and Elizabeth’s stories are both so heartbreaking yet beautiful. We meet Tristan and Elizabeth on the worst day of their lives, yet you can see and feel their strength, love, fear, and hope. We follow them on this journey to becoming as ‘whole’ as possible. Are we ever truly complete after a tragedy? We learn to cope, fix what we can, and learn that is ok to have cracks.  Those cracks mean we had the chance to live and love.

How do you move on after a tragedy strikes? Do you stay? Do you run from your pain? What is the right answer? How do we know if what we are doing is correct? Are there rules, as to when we can fall in love again without disgracing our lost loved one? The answer is you do what is best for you; you still have to face your loss, your past. You can’t escape who you are. Your love ones would want you to live, even with them being gone.

One of my favorite messages in this book is not to judge people based on what you see. It’s a simple and standard message, yet we live in a society that places a high value on what you can see from the outside.  Look beyond the physical, look at their actions; try to find what’s in their soul. We all have scars, some more than others, but we all deserve happiness and second chances even if we feel we don’t.  Under that rough exterior there could be a diamond.
