Our thoughts...

As I sit here and type this know that everything I am about to say is my opinion as a reader, and my opinion alone.

We left off in Echo with the tragic demise of Elizabeth being raped and tortured, with Declan saving the day in the end. We start off in Hush having Elizabeth in the throes of head -fucks all the while Declan is throwing tantrums trying to get Elizabeth to “trust” him again. Cue the repeat of head-fuck and then Declan fucking her back into his trust.

Moving on.  Yes, we find out who was on the plane, and while we do get a little bit of endearment out of that situation later on in the book, it comes to a very quick climax with a very quick ending to that situation. The entire mystery of who is who and what they were doing throughout the series was, in the end, anti-climatic for me.   I can’t put my finger on the trigger, but I can honestly tell you this book series lost its jive with me. Big fancy words used in some of the sentences made no difference in the story. The author tried too hard on this one, and I feel let down as a reader.

All of the characters in this book were deep rooted and dark individuals with skeletons to hide. I think ending the book the way it went was an extreme cop-out. Yes, I am talking about the epilogue. This world that the author built was so fantastic I am surprised at the ending at all. It’s almost like she was just ready for it to be over with.

So many things could have changed my opinion. If only I weren't in the land of caterpillar fantasies.

2.5 disappointed stars.

May the characters of Black Lotus R.I.P.
