I savored this book. Since reading Sarah Maas’s latest release a Court of Thorns and Roses I decided to finally take the plunge into her young adult world. Let’s just say I was not disappointed.

This book has is it all: angst, hot sex, character frustrations,
suspense, and the fear of finishing the book
because you’ll have to wait for book two. Gail McHugh knows how to keep you on
the edge of your seat, that’s for sure. I didn’t want to put Amber to Ashes down, yet I didn’t want
to finish it either. I loved everything
about this book: the explosive chemistry between
the characters, watching them make their decisions, whether they are right or
wrong. The dynamic between Ryder and Brock and Amber was engaging.
She finds something in each man that she thinks she needs.

Ugh. I am so thankful that is over. Writing this review is almost as painful as finishing the series. I don't think I can say anything new that I didn't already say in regards to the first two books. Book three is just more of the same that I encountered in the first two books. (See my reviews here and here).

This was just okay for me. I have issues with the flow, as with the first book. There are moments when an event in history is mentioned, cuing a flashback only to not flash back. Other times there are flashbacks thrown in at seemingly random times.

I was a little disappointed with this one. I feel like this is an attempt at being a Megan Hart novel with its "depressing love story with sex thrown in." It's something that can be done well but this time just feels forced.

Underdeveloped ~ Convenient ~ Lacking
This book surprised me, and not in a good way. I know so many people who rated this four or five stars and I can’t go above two. I would have marked this baby DNF early on if it weren’t for the fact that I was buddy-reading with Liz from Read Catch Kiss. Needless to say, I will not be continuing the series. I apologize now for what is definitely my “rantiest” review to date. I have reasons for it (well, most of it) but in the end, this book just ticked me off.
