Our thoughts...

Becky Wicks is a hidden gem in this world full of authors. This is my second book by her and I’m very impressed with her ability to create a story that really pulls the reader in from the start. Before He Was Gone is written from dual POVs which is something that I’m in love with these
days. I feel like it gives the reader a more in-depth look into what is actually going on with the characters. I talk a lot about flat writers in my reviews, writers that don’t have the ability to catapult me from my busy life into the pages of their story. Becky Wicks IS NOT a flat writer. At about 5%, I was hooked with the story and I wanted to see how Alyssa was going to grow as a woman and how she was going to overcome the problems all of us can relate to.

Before He Was gone is centered on a unique storyline that hasn’t been done in a book (not one that I’ve read). Yes, we have all watched this type of story unfold on TV but to actually read about people on a deserted island and to feel like I was one of them was a new feeling to me. I was living on that island with all of the contestants from the show. I was part of their group trying to figure out how to find food. I can’t decide if I want to go eat a yummy Greek meal or if I want to go swimming in a waterfall. This is a testament to Becky Wicks’ writing style and story development.

When I had about 10% left of the book, I actually took a break from reading it because I didn’t want to leave the characters behind. I wasn’t ready to let them go and I’m still not ready to let them go.

I am a fan of anything and everything Becky Wicks and I will be waiting for the next book of this series.
