Our thoughts...
Loyalty ~ Endearing ~ Legacy

If you are familiar with the other books in the Original Sinners series then you know each book has a different flow, storyline, and featured characters. Nora, Søren, and Kingsley are the common thread that are, if not heavily featured, at least mentioned and tied into the story. The beauty of the White Years (books 5-8) is they highlight the characters we have grown to love so much in a way that really allows us to get to know their true selves. The King opens the door into the man of mystery that is Kingsley Edge.

I have always been a fan of Kingsley. He is loyal, mysterious, devious, protective…the list can go on forever. The King allows us to be voyeurs of his past and gain insight into his character and why he is truly The King. The most compelling aspects of this story are the raw emotions we see from Kingsley and, most importantly, his relationship with Sam.

Ah, Sam. She is everything young Kingsley could ever ask for in a partner: trustworthy, deviant, beautiful, tough. She oozes sex and is playfully combative and challenging. The banter between Sam and Kingsley make this story. Sam draws genuine emotions from Kingsley, emotions we haven’t been privy to up until now. Kingsley feels real and relatable when he was previously an enigma.

Elizabeth Hart did a phenomenal job narrating this book. The biggest challenge with this story, I would imagine, is the fact that there are so many accents and even a few languages. I truly feel that the narration added so much. Each character felt like individuals and not just some chick imitating a French dude or the ominous Søren. I will definitely be seeking out more books narrated by Hart in the future.
