Our thoughts...

I really liked the setup of the story line in this first novel. The first chapter was great in the writing, and I was completely intrigued.

The next few chapters did a little thing I like to call "taking a dive in sentence structure.” I knew what the author was trying to say it just wasn't coming out right to me as a reader. I kept with it, and after I got a few chapters in it stopped, where I was able to continue with the story. We have Max the lead heroine who is a healer, and Jasper lead hero, whom is a damaged scar. Max has been through some tragic things in the past which makes her weak and damaged. I didn't see her as a strong heroine, and she seemed weak almost the entire novel. Now Jasper on the other hand was a true Alpha. I really enjoyed all of Jasper's points of view. I felt that she did a good job portraying the male, but not so much the female. There was angst in this book quite often, however the characters confused me most of the time with their back and forth antics. I didn’t know if I wanted to hug them or strangle them at times.  This book is a quick read, doesn't draw things out too much, and the events in the story happen at rapid pace. I think with a little fine tuning the next one will be even better.
