Our thoughts...

I savored this book. Since reading Sarah Maas’s latest release a Court of Thorns and Roses I decided to finally take the plunge into her young adult world. Let’s just say I was not disappointed.

The world in which she has created is once again exceptional. The writing, again exceptional. Her imagination and thorough thoughts of vivid detail kept me entranced. The story as a whole was quite good, and while I love adult thoughts and actions a little more, I accepted the characters at their vulnerability. Characters need growth, and I am sure as I continue the series she won’t let me down.
We have a young girl Celaena who has lost everything, and at the age of eight she is beheld by the leader of the assassins whom takes her in and trains her.  Years pass, crimes have been committed, and she gets sentenced to the salt mines in Endovier where she is forced to endure grueling work and lashes for disobedience. Of course she tries to escape, but fails.

Meanwhile Crown Prince Dorian of Adarlan is coming to seek Celaena along with his trusty childhood friend Chaol Captain of the guard. Dorian gets her out of the mines and gives her a proposition. Become his champion for his beloved father the King or die in the mines. She agrees to compete for the champion of the King to receive her freedom in four years. Without giving every single detail and feature of the novel. I encourage you to take a chance with this one. Even though it’s young adult, the story is really great.  As always I must leave little notes to the characters.

My dear kick-ass assassin Celaena,
Why oh why must you make such rash decisions. Yes, you know what I am talking about don’t you? I can’t believe after all the things a certain someone did for you, you treat it as if it were nothing. You are the most badass chick of all, and you could have anything you want. I really can’t wait out the days until you get your head on straight. Although I am hearing rumors I will have to wait awhile. (Shakes head) In the meantime let’s grow together.

Dorian,
I am not sure what I would do without you. I choose you. Yes I really do. I am sticking with you till the end no matter what happens. You definitely know a way to … my *ahem* a girl’s heart! I cannot possibly list all the reasons why I love you.  Let’s go kick ass in the future and get your girl

Chaol,
Dude you are tugging on my heart strings a lot. I think you are the best friend Celaena never had. Really truly you may be in love with her, but your friendship is your most trustworthy value in this story. When it comes to Dorian or Celaena you would die for either one of them.  I get why you love Celaena, and so do you, however I don’t see it happening love.  So with that being said, I will date you. I mean no really. You can go out with me we won’t tell Celaena nothing about it. That way she won’t get all ragey on us, and slit our throat.

King Adarlan,
You are one evil man. I don’t know everything about you yet, but I am betting it’s not good.

Nehemia,
I don’t know a lot about you yet either, however you have shown a great deal in the magic arts, which also makes me more curious about what you are capable of. I am excited to see your friendship with Celaena grow.

4 continue-to-grow stars.
