Our thoughts...
I thought I really enjoyed this one, I really did. But then I tried to participate in a conversation regarding the book and I was not able to support that opinion, which shocked me. So I went back to my notes and realized I was a little too blinded by my love for the authors and the other books in the series and I fooled myself into thinking it was love.
I really enjoyed the previous books in this series and was looking forward to this one. It’s not that I didn’t like this one, I just don’t like it as much as the others. I like the characters enough. I like the premise enough. I like the banter and witty thoughts enough. But I just liked them. Nothing really stood out to me as great, but it was enjoyable. Be warned: it sounds like people are torn on this one. It might be a love it or hate it sort of relationship.
There are a few things that seemed a little too bizarre even in this series’ world. Things that just felt a little…I want to say forced or convenient, but that’s not right. Too far-fetched? Too naïve? Too unbalanced? I don’t know. I can’t find just the right word but not everything flowed like I’m used to from these two authors.
In the end, I enjoyed it but didn’t love it. It’s my least favorite in the series but I don’t feel like it was time wasted. Can I recommend this book? Yes, but know it’s not for everyone and not quite up to par for the series.
