Our thoughts...
What an incredible re-calibration of A Thousand and One
nights. It took me a bit to get use to the names and what they meant as well as
the story, but it morphed into this certainty that I can’t even explain.
Shahrzad has a plan. She finds a way into marrying Khalid
as one of his many brides, whom have all died by hanging, to seek revenge on
the King by murdering him first before the King can have her killed. There is
one catch to this though. The King actually takes interest in Shazi, and her
plan to seek revenge crumbles. Things happen, and in a blink of an eye Shazi and
the King Khalid find themselves together. Meanwhile Tariq is on his journey to
save Shazi before she dies at the hand of the King with the help of Shazi’s
father. By the end we start to see everything unravel.Things come to a head, and we are left with a what do I do now face in the end sadly.
It’s hard not to spoil this book as I could sum it all up
nicely, however just know that the intensity of this story is deeply woven throughout
the book. The words never fault, and it flowed beautifully. It does end on a
cliffhanger which makes me want to pull out my hair, but none the less I will
be waiting patiently for the next installment.
Shazi- What a fierce woman you are becoming. It takes a
strong woman to be with the likes of the Khalid. Please stay safe, and strong.
Khalid – You are not who I thought you were. I am seriously
counting down the days till I can be with you again.
Tariq- I totally feel your pain. You know only love and
devotion. I hope that things can work in your favor sometime soon.
Despina- You are hilarious. I love you brat.
Jalal- I am glad you finally know what you have needed to
know the whole book!!!
