Our thoughts...
This book
was just okay for me, in all honesty. It has been awhile since I’ve read
anything from Kinsella and my memories told me I really enjoyed my previous
encounters. Goodreads tells me I felt the same about them as I do about this
one. Maybe that means if you’ve loved her in the past you’ll love this one,
too.
There isn’t
anything that stands out in this story that makes me rant or rave and I think
that’s the heart of the problem. Nothing stands out. Nothing evoked strong
emotion. Nothing caused me to become invested. It’s a solid story but that’s
about it. I would get wrapped up in it while reading but as soon as I put it
down I would struggle to pick it back up. I had no cause for commitment to the
story or the characters. They’re all fine and dandy but I just didn’t
feel…well, I just didn’t feel anything and that’s the problem.
You will
enjoy this book if you enjoy Sophie Kinsella. I don’t feel like I wasted my
time but I did have to put more effort into finishing than I prefer. The story
is breezy and sweet and worth checking out from the library.
Thanks for review Jenny!
