Our thoughts...

Something in the Way was a literary walk down my youth and I loved every step! Jessica does an amazing job taking you back to the 90’s; everything from the music to clothing to being that somewhat awkward little sister, the one who isn’t striving to be older than she is.  Lake and Manning’s story is everything you want! Trust me. You have this sweet innocent love that could turn into a raging inferno if you allowed the flames to breathe the needed oxygen.

Lake is mature and responsible beyond her years but she still contains these childlike naiveties about her even though she is 16. She is incredibly smart and driven. She is a huge people pleaser.

Tiffany is Lakes older sister; she’s a huge pain in the ass. She’s the wild one, butting heads with their father. I did feel a little bad for her. She is living in Lake's shadow it seems.

Manning is older, jaded by the world and life. He sees what’s behind Lake's eyes, into her soul and he wants to protect her, cherish her, and ultimately love her but he understands that is not allowed at this time in their life.

This story will bring you back to your first love, first heartbreak. That moment when you decided to do something for yourself, throwing caution to the wind.  I recommend this book for everyone but especially people who loved the 90's.
