This is the third book in the standalone Rugby series by LH Cosway and Penny Reid. I really enjoy how these two authors come together with their different but similar writing styles to create characters that go well together but are clearly from two different brains.
The thing I appreciate most about this book is that what happens is believable and realistic. People act their age and behave with a respectable amount of drama. The way people react and respond is at an appropriate level of chaos and confusion. It isn’t over-the-top for the sake of creating a juicier story. It’s believable and more on par with what one would imagine the average sane person would experience. Drama in life is normal and inevitable but I can’t stand when a story goes to overkill levels of drama.
The sports in this sports romance was different than the previous books. It isn’t all about rugby on the field but more behind the scenes. It’s the locker room and therapy side of it. The off-the-field side of sports. I liked seeing a different side because it’s very much a part of an athlete’s life and there are a lot of people behind the scenes making sure the players are in a good place.
Pick up The Cad & the Co-Ed if you want a fun read that is believable and touching. You’ll be rooting for the reformed bad-boy in no time and feeling proud of someone who used to be reprehensible. And while you’re at it, pick up the audiobooks for the first two books in the series for some lovely accents and more sports romance from this dynamic duo.
