Our thoughts...

This one is kinda hard for me to review because while I liked the writing and the story, I spent a majority of the book not liking any of the characters. Usually characters being likable is how I relate to the book but for some reason I was still hooked to see how this was going to play out.

I think unlike most books I read, this one didn't have a female and male lead. It wasn't really romance. There was some tossed in but it wasn't the focus.

Merit was the main focal point. To be honest as the mom of a teen, some of their story scared the shit out of me. I know this day in age teens aren't as sheltered as I was but I'm buckling in for the years ahead ;)

This book was about self discovery. Merit deals with very real issues that are relevant today. I think the author did a great job at getting her point across about many social issues without beating us over the head with preaching about them.

The Voss family was a bit crazy. I can relate to a crazy family but they gave mine a run for their money for sure.

Overall I was hooked on how the story played out but was still left wanting more of a conclusion.
