Our thoughts...

Anjee did such a great job reviewing this story (HERE) so I’m not going to talk about it too much and focus more on the audio.

I will say the story is impeccably written. The world this story takes place in is so well-thought-out and is explained to the reader in a way that is easy to understand without being simple. I love when authors do this because it highlights their intelligence, a trait I adore. To explain something complicated in a simple fashion without coming across as patronizing or "dumbing down" is a hard task. Maas clearly respects her readers and we truly benefit from that.

Now for the audio: Jennifer Ikeda is AMAZING!!! That's right, I just used three exclamation points; she's that good. This woman reads the story like she has knows it. I understand that may sound ridiculous but there are many narrators out there that just read off the page, having never read it before they stepped into the studio, and it shows. Ikeda knows her stuff and knows it well. She knows the characters and their personalities. She knows the struggles ahead and behind each of the main characters. She knows them and it pays off big time for the reader.

If you are new to audiobooks or love a great narrator like I do, you will not be disappointed with this one. The characters come to life and settle in deep. I listened to this twice in a row before writing my review because I just couldn't walk away. A Court of Thorns and Roses was on my list of top reads for 2015 and will is a forever favorite as well.
