This book shocked me. I wasn’t expecting a historical read at all. I read the blurb… I thought this book sounded great; I didn’t think 1943 love story. I’ve never read anything by this author so I thought I’ll give it a try. Let me tell you I was amazed. I absolutely loved this book.
This is why I loved Back to Yesterday: the setting. 1943 was a crazy time in US History and the love story is everything that we are missing in today’s digital society. It’s the paper trail, taking the time to pen your thoughts; really getting to know people, not wasting precious minutes looking at a phone screen. It made me think of my Grandparents: all the letters that my Grandmother kept from my Grandfather during his time in the war. How she cherished those letters up until her last breath. Today’s generation will never witness that and it saddens me.
Pamela takes you through the entire journey of Charlie and Sophie life; courtship, possible loss, marriage, all the way to the afterlife. It was extremely beautiful, heartfelt; I finished reading with tears in my eyes and an extremely happy heart. These characters are truly amazing!
