Our thoughts...
I don’t even know where to begin, but I know where I
end. This novel was excellent. The highs and lows were incredible. It’s been
awhile since I have stayed up till wee hours in the morning reading a gem like
this. I am now one hundred percent a fan of Penelope Douglas.
We meet Misha and Ryen two pen pals that are simply destined to meet up one day. They have
been writing since the fifth grade, but both are
never vowing to look each other up. Tragedy takes place, and then everything is
off the table. They meet, but they don’t. It’s quite an emotional journey that
had me, at one point, thinking this is how I felt in High School. It’s about
being someone you aren’t, and how miserable it really
makes you, and all it takes is one single person to see you for you, and not
what you fakeness you can provide them.
I was in constant turmoil about Reyna’s feelings. I could feel what she
was feeling. All.Of.The.Time. I was a wreck. I was her. She was me. So it’s a
tad bit on the personal. I felt like the book was partly about my life. Sad
shit.
The relationship between Misha and Reyna was done with conviction. It was brutal in the
beginning. The things they said to each
other. The things that were done ripped
me to shreds, but somehow some way they started to weave back together, and the
ending came bittersweet.
Two of my favorite quotes. The rest were song lyrics
which you should read in the novel.
“P.S. If I find out you’re ditching me for a car, a
girl, or the latest Grand Theft Auto video game, I’m going to troll the Walking
Dead message boards under your name.” – Reyna in a letter to Misha
“Fuck. I put the pen to
the paper and scrawl what my goddamn heart can only whisper. I miss you
ever day, I write. You’re my favorite place.”
- Misha in a letter to Reyna
