Our thoughts...
Thief of Hearts is the first of L.H. Cosway’s solo endeavors that I have read. I’m a fan of her collaborations with Penny Reid so I thought I would enjoy her other work and I’m glad I gave her a shot. I found her writing to be sophisticated and fun while being smart and multidimensional.
I felt like the two main characters went through a lot of challenges and with that came a lot of growth. Problems were handled in an adult fashion (thank you!) and there was a lot of respect amongst all of the characters in the story. The pacing is steady and I didn’t find any “dead weight” or wasted words, so to speak. Time passed quickly when we didn’t need to hear details and slowed down when we did. Cosway manages to avoid a lot of pitfalls that are my pet peeves and I am so thankful for that! I always find these things refreshing, which, in itself, is a sad concept best left to be discussed another day.
Thief of Hearts if full of growth, depth, and has a steady pace throughout the journey. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series. This is number five in the Hearts series but is a standalone. I haven’t read any of the other books yet and followed along just fine. I am anxious to read the rest in the series, though!
